High Throughput Screening on the Luminex 100™ System
Technical Bulletin, May 2001
Excerpt: Drug discovery-related compound screening currently is evolving along two separate but complementary pathways: – High Throughput Screening (HTS), where the rate of compound screening is maximized, and Information Density Screening, where the information gained regarding the target of interest or the compound of interest is maximized. By multiplexing assays in a single well, the Luminex Multi-Analyte Profiling assay system, known as xMAP technology, meets many of the needs of Information Density Screening by allowing the analysis of up to 100 different analytes/reaction products in a single sample. With xMAP technology, many secondary specificity assays can be included with the primary screen and the effects of compounds on entire metabolic pathways can be examined in a single well.

TSH Immunoassay — third generation, extended range
Technical Bulletin, July 2002
Excerpt: Measurement of TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone or Thyrotropin) is useful in screening for both hyperthyroidism, where TSH levels may be very low, and hypothyroidism, where TSH levels may be high. To date, no single commercial assay is available that exhibits both the exquisite sensitivity and broad dynamic range required for screening for both conditions. Using the xMAP system, we developed a TSH immunoassay that combines the third-generation sensitivity and the dynamic range necessary for practical use as an analytical tool.
