Product Marketing Manager, Nucleic Acids Research

Luminex, an entrepreneurial biotechnology company, has an immediate opening for an assertive self-starter with excellent communication skills.

Summary :

The Product Marketing Manager will be responsible for identifying new product opportunities and ensuring customer input drives new product development. 

Job responsibilities include:  identifying opportunities for new products or services in Newborn Screening; developing business proposals to justify new products, working with key customers and developing Customer Requirements Documents; writing and implementing product marketing plans; working closely with product development teams to ensure customer input is considered in the project; managing alpha and beta testing; and then training the commercial team at product launch.

In the short term, primary responsibility will be for the upcoming multiplexed ELISA product line.  This product will provide the efficiencies of multiplexing to the Newborn Screening market for ELISA tests they currently run one at a time.  Key opinion leader response has been extremely positive and we believe this product line has significant potential and meets several important needs of this large market.  We need a strong marketing person to continue the early momentum we’ve generated on this new product line.  This position is a strategic marketing role and will be responsible for defining which products to develop, working with R&D throughout development to ensure the voice of the customer is a priority and preparing for launch.  Post launch, the products will be transitioned to a tactical marketing manager in the commercial group who will be responsible for generating awareness, globalization, tradeshows, advertising, etc. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assess customer needs, competitive risks, and long-term marketing potential Newborn Screening products for Luminex xMAP technology.
  • Ensure that the assay and product pipeline correspond to market needs and business strategy
  • Position the company and product against competitive alternatives in the marketplace through proper positioning and messaging
  • Develop marketing plans to include forecasting, commercial launch, generating awareness, training and all other aspects of a traditional marketing plan.
  • Training of the commercial team – sales reps, tactical marketing, marketing communications, technical support, etc.

Education Requirements:

  • B.A/B.S in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related discipline, or the equivalent education and experience is required.  MBA preferred.

Experience Requirements:

  • Experience in immunoassay diagnostics a must.  Newborn Screening experience preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar marketing, marketing analysis or sales role including participating in market analysis and planning is required.
  • Candidate must have strong communication skills as well as analytical, product management and planning skills.
  • Must have strong leadership and cross-functional team expertise.
  • Proven ability to set and meet objectives and timelines.
  • Experience working in a quality system, such as ISO, cGMP or equivalent and development of FDA-cleared/approved products is desired.
  • Global travel required (20-30%).
