xTAG CYP2D6 Overview
A wide variety of clinically significant drugs including ß-blockers, antipsychotics, antidepressants, analgesics, anti cancer and antiarrythmics are substrates for the CYP2D6 pathway. Owing to the fact that this gene is highly polymorphic across the human population, an individual’s specific allele combination can result in distinct drug metabolizing phenotypes for the various drugs and consequently the potential for different drug responses. Additionally, co-administration of drugs that act as inducers or inhibitors of CYP2D6 can also affect drug metabolizing phenotypes. These, along with other lifestyle and physiological factors, including the individual’s age, size and gender, renal and liver function, disease status, can result in varying CYP2D6 metabolism phenotypes.
The xTAG CYP2D6 assay is a comprehensive, accurate, and easy to use test that can detect polymorphisms associated with drug metabolism across diverse populations and is to be used as an aid in determining therapeutic strategy for therapeutics that are metabolized by the CYP2D6 gene product. This test is not indicated for stand-alone diagnostic purposes.

xTAG CYP2D6 Product Description
The xTAG CYP2D6 Kit v3 simultaneously detects and identifies a panel of nucleotide variants found within the highly polymorphic CYP2D6 gene. It also identifies gene rearrangements associated with the deletion (*5) and duplication genotypes.
