Caymen Chemical
Company Description
Cayman Chemical Company was incorporated June 6, 1980 in Denver, Colorado. The goal of the new business was to demonstrate the value of naturally growing gorgonian corals as a renewable, economically viable source of prostaglandins. After receiving permission from the government of Grand Cayman Island, an eight pound sample of coral was harvested and 30 grams of semi-pure Prostaglandin A2 was extracted, purified, and later sold as our first product.
After several years the small but growing company moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan and opened a small synthetic chemistry laboratory specializing in eicosanoid synthesis. Continued growth allowed Cayman to acquire AIA reagents to add Enzyme Immunoassays to their product line. Cayman’s current production and R&D labs reside on a 14 acre campus located in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Cayman Chemical now manufactures and analyzes over 4,200 unique products including biochemicals, assay kits, antibodies, and proteins. They continue to add new products to their catalog every week. Their mission is to strive to make each product of the highest quality, offering them at affordable prices while helping to make research possible.
