Genotyping

Description
Luminex® xMAP® technology is ideal for all sorts of genotyping applications — including identity testing, pharmacogenomics applications and genetic or infectious disease screening, population genetics or DNA sample profiling. Using xMAP technology, the clinician can multiplex both the amplification and detection steps, enabling the screening of up to 1000 samples per day for genetic markers.

The process uses allele-specific oligonucleotides, which are coated on the surfaces of color-coded xMAP microspheres in a particular sample. The reaction is completed by the introduction of DNA that has been amplified by PCR and labeled with a fluorescent tag. The Luminex 100 then identifies and quantifies each individual reaction, quickly and accurately. Using xMAP technology in genotyping offers substantial benefits — boosting productivity with higher throughput, cutting costs by requiring smaller amounts of sample DNA, and saving time by eliminating washing steps.
