Gene Expression

Description
High-throughput gene expression profiling of multiple markers is made easy with xMAP technology. While competing microarray technology allows for ultra high-density gene expression profiling, issues such as cost, throughput, and reproducibility with a 2-dimensional array are problematic in drug trials and in the clinic, where only a moderate number of genes are screened in thousands of samples. Solution-phase kinetics of xMAP microspheres yields more reproducible product manufacturing and quality control, as well as faster assay results.

In addition, competing real-time PCR methods work well when screening for only 1 or 2 genes, but multiplexing of 10 to 100 targets at once is simply not possible.  xMAP technology offers the best of both worlds for gene expression – moderate to high multiplexing (up to 100-plex) but with high-throughput and robust reproducibility.
