There are currently over 100 cytokines/chemokines whose coordinate or discordant regulation is of clinical interest. In order to correlate a specific disease process with changes in cytokine levels, the ideal approach requires analyzing each sample for multiple cytokines. Using traditional methodologies, limited sample sizes or budget restrictions can often prohibit this kind of testing. Not so with Luminex® xMAP® technology, which offers ideal speed and sensitivity for performing multiplexed cytokine measurements. Luminex's breakthrough approach offers comparable sensitivity to traditional ELISA-based systems, but with additional advantages including extended dynamic range and smaller sample size.
