Allergy Testing

Description
Luminex® xMAP® technology is ideal for allergy-testing applications, because multi-analyte profiling can be performed more rapidly and economically than with conventional methods, using a smaller amount of patient sample.

Luminex xMAP technology allows for an in-vitro allergy profile that measures human IgE (immunoglobulin E) antibodies specific to various allergens — simultaneously. This is done by coating the distinctly colored xMAP microsphere sets, each with a different allergen, which serves as a target for allergen-specific antibodies. A second color-coded reporter molecule completes the reaction, using anti-human-IgE. The Luminex 100 system then identifies and quantifies each individual reaction, quickly and accurately.
